Like the subject line says.
"DON'T OPEN LOADER.SWF IN YOUR WEB BROWSER"

If you're using a web browser, then use the Flash Player projector instead.

Why? There was an emergency Flash patch, which is supposed to reduce identity theft. Unfortunately if seems that it 'broke' the ability of web browsers to open the SWF file in Superdeepthroat.

Ah, I had a feeling there was something amiss when SDT wouldn't load hairs after the most recent Flash update. Though I admit that with the sticky and capital letters, I was worried that something more serious had happened. (Turns out it's just because a lot of folks kept making topics about the same issue.)

Happened to me too....

Been trying to get it to work on the "macromedia flash" thing, but all I get is a black screen... Maybe I'm doing something wrong, not an expert with this stuff.

THANK YOU!
I've been tossing (heh) and turning around for the last few days, thinking it was a Windows update that broke SWF file interactivity with web browsers. I've been creating generic Windows 7 VMs with both IE8 and 11 to determine what combination would work, as I'm now on Windows 10.

oh my gosh, this is a life saver. I'm running it on a Mac and SWF Player refused to load any SDT Mods, so I lost a lot of interest in it, up until I decided to come back to the forums for help.

Thank you so much! :D

  1. Visit the Adobe webpage
  2. There are links such as "Flash Player for Internet Explorer" and "Flash Player for Firefox". Don't click those links.
  3. There are links labeled "Flash Player projector". Find the one which corresponds to your operating system. I'll assume that you're using Windows. Click that link.
  4. You'll be prompted to download an EXE file. Save it to a reasonably-permanent location (such as your SDT folder). Leaving it in your Downloads folder or your Temporary Internet Files folder would be a mistake.
  5. Run the new EXE file. An empty Flash Player window will appear.
  6. Drag and drop your Loader.swf file onto the Flash Player window.

If you're having trouble then you can just forget the whole thing and download a Loader Pack instead (such as the one provided by sby). Most Loader packs include a copy of the Flash Player projector.

mine also has the older versions that play the game faster.
also included debug version, in case you like error messages

also, how shady would it be to have a copy of the old flash player to download on the forum? cause that could be very useful for people trying to navigate adobe's archives.
i'll let you moderators and such churn that one.

Well, thank you very much, i suck more at computers than these ladies suck... you know what.

I was able to make the game run, i still need to figure out how to save characters and handle the game in general, but at least it's working now. Thank you.

There are a few reasons why I've avoided doing so:
  • trust
    • it's an EXE file. This is a shady porn website. People really shouldn't be blindly executing any files that they acquire here.
    • we could include an MD5 hash or whatever, but most of our visitors wouldn't bother to check. Anyone who cares about security is going to grab the file directly from the source instead of using an unofficial mirror.
    • the Adobe website is a neutral location. It doesn't host any crazy sex ads or drive-by downloads. People can decide whether or not they trust Adobe.
  • platform
    • in order to avoid PEBCAK problems, we'd need to heavily emphasize the Windows files.
    • that's kind of exclusive and shitty, since we offer little acknowledgement or support of Mac and Linux environments as-is. I don't want to further enshrine the idea that SDT (or Undertow) is intended primarily for Windows users.
  • reliability
    • Flash has had a few security flaws over the years. The Adobe website gives visitors the latest software version, which presumably includes patches for some of those flaws.
    • If people want to use an older version then that's fine. Maybe they get better performance or reduced memory footprint or whatever. But I think that it should be at least slightly inconvenient to acquire older versions, so that people do so for actual reasons (instead of "I'm using Flash Player 4.2 because I saw a whole page full of download links and so I just clicked one of them at random").

To be clear: modders are welcome to include standalone Flash EXEs and "click here to launch the game" batch files when they prepare Loader packs. Such measures are very useful in making the game more accessible -- especially to users with limited English literacy. I don't mean to discourage or criticize anyone; I'm merely explaining why I haven't created an archive of old Flash Player files.

That's good to hear. Go read the Newbie Guide :P

I agree with stuntcock about us NOT hosting old flash players.

What you want to download is the stand alone flash player projecter, found here: Adobe Flash Player - Debug Downloads.
stuntcock has given instructions on how to download and run SDT on the projector.

Do note that an alternate way to open SDT.swf or Loader.swf is by opening the flash player projecter and then click "file" and then click "Open..." and navigating your files to where you have your Loader.swf or SDT.swf and double click on it, then click ok. (I don't know if this applies to all versions of the projector, I'm assuming you are using windows.)

If this doesn't help you can try one of the pre-made packs created by some of the modders, the pack made my sby is a great one to go with:
sby's loader imports; December 28 2016: uploaded stuffs (click the spoiler under --- Sby Loader Pack(s): ---, and then click the download link that shows up.)

Lastly, the newbie guide may be able to solve what may be wrong: SDT Newbie Guide

I hope I've help you in some way! Those more knowledgeable (like stuncock and other mods) will be of greater help if this did not solve the issues you've ran into. Good luck!
