Even though Vern clearly isn't a nice guy I think he could start to treat the imp a bit better, maybe reward obedient behavior with headpats and reassurance that she'll be ok. Though I'll admit these are just things I wanna do because I feel bad for her, Vern might do it to let her guard down & lessen the chance of her trying to alert more demons.

Perhaps, being a lowly minion of hell, she might develop some degree of Stockholm syndrome? Then just as she's starting to feel optimistic about being his thrall he may decide she's better off joining her fellow guards.

In the meantime, wait and see if one or more leave to redress. We may be able to take one or two out of the picture silently via the hot spring.  Or see if a guard left some electric-infused weapon or torture device lying around. That would be convenient.
