I just use a mouse, but the pen tool helps a lot when making bigger lines etc ^^

Oh shit, I thought you were just talking about the pencil tool. But damn, this is a lot nicer and cleaner. I've been trying to do it freehand and can't for the life of me get nice decent curves for the bangs. Now I just gotta figure out how to color, and I should be good.

What software do you use? ... was wondering if maybe you had a tutorial or something
There are various tutorials. It sounds like you're getting the hang of things in Photoshop. If you're not too heavily committed yet, then I would encourage you to spend a few minutes playing around in Inkscape as well.

Both of these applications are useful for tracing SDT hairstyles. Photoshop has much better tools for fancy visual effects (filtering, blurring, smudging, streaking, etc). Inkscape uses vector graphics, which are useful if you're collaborating with a Flash modder (e.g. because you've drawn a new pair of pants and you want them made into a SWF file, or because you've drawn a hairstyle and someone wants to make it dynamic).

Photoshop tutorial
Inkscape tutorial
And a video tutorial for GIMP (the GUI won't match yours exactly, but Voltlight's description of the process and of each intermediate goal is much more complete than what you'll find in the two previous tutorials)

Either way -- kudos to you for taking the initiative here! Many people get disappointed when they first put pen to paper, and then they just give up. Asking for support is completely normal and appropriate. If you'd like specific constructive criticism or guidance then feel free to start a thread and post some WIP samples.

I've run into a few examples of this recently, so I'm going to emphasize this point:

You must Search before asking an artist to make something for you.

A hairstyle for Naoe was created years ago by sigmasurprise. Artists - especially ones as prolific as Mineur - are busy people. They may not bother to double-check each suggestion; they may just assume that each suggestion is a fresh one. They may fall in love with a design and start looking for reference shots right away.

If the hairstyle already exists but you'd like a new version, then you must provide a link to the original. The artist will decide whether it's worthwhile to redraw it.

In this particular case: I would say that a bit of overlap doesn't hurt. sigma's design includes gorgeous detail, but it's absurdly long (it falls through the bottom of the game window!) and it tends to clip through the body. Mineur's design fits in better with the SDT palette and its layout reflects Mineur's experience with SDT -- it's less likely to suffer collision problems.

But this isn't my decision to make, nor is it yours. Mineur's the one who is putting effort and skill into this work. Give him the information that he needs, show gratitude for the work that he creates, and try not to waste his time.

Haha ya it is right? ^^ You can also save the pen tool paths in case u might need them later, I usually save most of them just to be sure. It can leave some "errors" or ugly tips to bangs etc though but easily fixed with a soft brush with some lower flow settings. Ok, good luck! If you need more help or so just ask.

Oh that explains it! Its kinda fun to go into uncharted territory though, when u dont know anything about the show b4 u start it ^^ Thats nice, I'll prob hit up the manga after the anime have ended if I like it!

Its fine in this case though, I had put her in my poll myself so ^^ His version was rly good but the art didnt fully match with the SDT style hench I had plans on trying to make my own version of Naoe ;)

Thank you though, and you are doing a great work as the new mod of the SDT section ^^

I will, actually! Thanks a bunch for the help! been a bit busy, so I haven't been able to completely jump into it, but I think I'm getting somewhere. Where would I be able to post this thread? And I still need to get refs for the Saekano girls

Create a new thread on the Imports board. Don't worry about the format at first. If you end up creating a bunch of files then we can re-organize the first post as needed (with section headings and spoiler tags etc). And we can insert additional posts later on, so you don't need to reply to your own thread in order to create "reserved" spots.

If you decide to stop (or get too busy with real life or whatever) so that things don't really progress beyond WIP sketches, then we'll just move the thread somewhere else. That's not intended as a punishment; it's just to prevent people from showing up six months later and asking silly questions ("where can I download your finished Saekano hairs???")

If you'd prefer to keep things more low-key, then feel free to just post your WIP stuff (and even finished hair files) in the Saekano Request thread. The main reason to use a separate thread is if you're asking for constructive criticism -- it would be easier to keep track of feedback in a thread which is specifically about your work.

I've already posted, thanks. I'm kinda starting to wonder if maybe it should've stayed in th Saekano request, but oh well. Thanks a bunch!

Hey Mineur, I was wondering if by any chance, you wouldn't happen to have a non-hat version of Mari Nikaidou, pls.

I kinda wanna make some of the other chars first but its possible ;)

i think its easier if you read the synopsis here is the link Mushoku Tensei - Baka-Tsuki this is a good story and its finished

Ah ok, I'll look it up ^^

My main idea with reading some LN's though are to continue with shows I liked previously that prob wont get more seasons in the near future and doesnt have a manga (or a really slow one).

Welcome! And sure go ahead, I might not accept it but it never hurts to ask ^^
