The Xenforo software itself has a Poll feature, which limits people to one vote per forum account. Cheating would still be possible, but the cheaters would need to register a whole bunch of "smurf" accounts in order to do it (and the staff could easily detect it and tell them to knock it off).

Mineur prefers to keep voting on a public platform because it allows more people to participate. He supervises the polls closely enough that he can notice cheating and react accordingly.

Exactly, and its not that hard to notice or counter most of the time. Atleast not when a character had appeared in the poll previously and suddenly get like 4x the votes it got earlier lol.
