Trish Stratus is my favourite WWE wrestler. Here's why
My knowledge on wrestling is a bit outdated. I stopped following it closely a while ago, but when I was younger, I absolutely loved Trish Stratus. She was front and center in many of my ryona fantasies. Here are some points why I love her so much.
- She has a background as a fitness model. In my fantasies I often exaggerate this aspect to let her take as much punishment as possible. I know this aspect isn't unique to Trish, but it's one of those aspects that was shoved down our throats when Trish was active, so it's the justification used to put her through long periods of torment. A regular match is a few minutes in length. I would have her tormented for far longer than that (say half an hour). Only to have to get back up and fight the next match with only a few minutes of intermission. Inflicting such physical brutality is fine since she is so fit and can handle it
- She owns a yoga studio. Due to her work in yoga, she's really flexible and she can be put in insane submission holds without breaking her body
- Domination. Her results makes it feel right to put her in increasingly challenging matches.

The ryona fantasy is frowned upon because of the men on women violence, but it's a fantasy. Trish realizes that WWE - as real as the pain and athleticism is - is just a fantasy. It isn't ACTUAL men on women violence. She believes the show and the female wrestlers would be better with it.

Alexa Bliss only appears about once a month on NXT television and I'm actually okay with that. Makes her more of a special attraction for now. Someday, she will rule the world.
Though not if Sasha Banks has anything to say about it. I don't know why, but Sasha seems to take particular relish in abusing little Alexa. I imagine she might be jealous of cheerleader types who always have things handed to them. I sense years of aggression being taken out on this lowly jobber whenever they're in the ring together. This latest encounter was the most savage assault yet. I wrote a brief description over on our much neglected Tumblr. Here, I'll let the gifs tell the story:
That straddle and beatdown had to have been my favorite part of it. Second favorite is that lick Sasha has when she first locks in the Banks Statement. It is just so evil. Why would someone do that to poor Alexa?

I used to be into the WWE (WWF really) and Lita and Trish Stratus might just be what made me start getting into ryona back in like 2000. Im not really familiar with the wrestlers from 2005 on, though I gotta say AJ Lee is super sexy.
I recently discovered Velvet Sky though from TNA. I know her contract hasn't been renewed and she's probably gonna retire, and from what I understand she wasn't really a good wrestler. But damned if she wasn't sexy as hell.
Probably one of the sexiest divas since Trish Stratus left. Though her character was less face and more heel/antagonistic lol.
Alexa Bliss actually managed to pick up a win over Sasha Banks last month, albeit in a non-title match and via count-out. Still, a win is a win and considering how Sasha has dominated her in every encounter, you better believe Alexa will take it. Even better, it allowed her to get a shot at Sasha's NXT Women's Title. Alexa fought the match of her life, but...well, Sasha is Sasha.
Sasha OWNS her. Just definitive losses every time. From begging for the ref to help her last time to flailing and slapping Sasha's thigh in hopes she'll let go, Bliss just can't take down the champ!

Anyway, this was the match that wholly turned me into an Alexa Bliss fanatic. Obviously in terms of NXT girls my favorite is blue pants/Leva to the extent she counts, but christ that new outfit (the booty shorts!) and her awesome expressive face in this match (she really sells that frustration/disappointment/disbelief) were incredible and put Alex at #2. I really want them to work with Becky Lynch because she's absolutely gorgeous and could end up being my favorite Diva, but they don't seem interested in using her outside of tag matches? Sucks because I'd love to see how she carries a humiliating loss--she's got the gorgeous, expressive sort of face to potentially sell defeat very well.
as someone who watches it, the reason i don't think they do more with lynch is because they don't like her character, based on some of the stuff you've heard the commentator say and what not. graves especially doesn't like her, which is bizarre because she cut the best promo of the girls at the wrestlemania NXT thing. she's definitely good in the ring and seeing a chick be a suplex machine is pretty rad. not to mention holy hell she's fucking hot.
I love how in the first three pics shes prancing around arrogant and over confident, not even realizing how vulnerable and exposed her rather soft looking belly is.

Well, I hadn't been too into WWE lately. I was getting my women's wrestling itch scratched through videos produced by independent companies and starring the indie wrestlers I'm fixated on. I dug Paige and Alexa in WWE quite a bit, but was never too interested in their matches and ever since Kaitlyn had left I hadn't really been passionate about any of their female talent. This changed after Wednesday's NXT event, when WWE revealed that they were evidently hell bent on getting me to fall hard for Becky Lynch. She's been around for awhile in tag matches and I've found her generally adorable but this match with Sasha was her first big storyline afaik and it's certainly one of the best WWE matches I've ever seen.
So yeah. Emotionally turbulent. High energy match by both women. Great stuff. Though, I have to confess that Sasha Banks does nothing for me. I couldn't understand why the crowd was rooting for her. Her gimmick is that she acts hood and wears Kanye's glasses from 2007? Okay.
And I guess ultimately Becky's current character reminds me a lot of the 2003-era "face" Lita who was among my favorite women ever to see get her ass handed to her. That's probably why this match resonated with me the way it did. I really hope she continues to make appearances on NXT and this wasn't her "only chance" or "one big push," because :in love:
people are behind sasha because she plays that role perfectly. it's not just in her entrance and shades, she plays that attitude out as she wrestles and even bends her moves to fit it and adds spunk. hell, she modified her finish to include working lynches arm just for that match as a response to lynch working people's arms as a finisher in recent weeks. she plays that whole bossy bitch girl perfectly and is incredible in the ring. i don't really like her look and think her lips are way too bright but unless they fuck up her booking (LOLWWE) she's going to be a complete fucking star.
also lynch is awesome and insanely hot and i dig her even more now, and i'm pretty sure with the way this match was received + her coming out with a new look/entrance for it, she's going to be one of their main people. not to mention aside from banks she's probably the best girl they have, or at least tied with charlotte.
