2FA Authentication Can't Be Enabled (1 Viewer)

Good day,

I've been attempting to enable the 2FA settings on my account for my authentication app, but it just doesn't activate no matter how many times I put in the token after scanning the QR. I *know* the token is correct. I've manually put in the secret multiple times, and yet when I click the submit and activate the 2FA, it throws an error say it can't be activated. Why is this?

I haven't attempted email 2FA as that isn't what I'd prefer the authentication app. Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide with this.

Did you check with the authentication app help desk to see if it works with Undertow? I noticed that you have not activated two step authentication in your user settings.

Yes, when I attempt to enable the app authentication, it throws this error specifically. I've tried using my password manager's TOTP generator, in Google Authenticator, and in Aegis. All of them failed. I thought perhaps it could be because I was using a VPN(though, that wouldn't make much sense), so I disabled, but still got the same result.

Would you happen to know what could generate this particular error?

No, I do not know what would generate the error. Are you getting the error message in undertow?

Yes, I went ahead and tried enabling it using my phone instead of my computer just to isolate that as a cause, but still no dice. It's certainly bizarre. I don't recall ever having this issue with other services. Are there perhaps some profile settings that would somehow prohibit my enabling 2FA via authentication app?

Also, thank you very much for assisting me with this.

In undertow, click on your username. Select 'Password and Security'. You should see a line that says 'Two-step verification Disabled'. Click the change button to enable it.

That's right. I click the option to enable 2FA followed by authenticating with my password. Afterwards, I'm given the option to enable 2FA either through email or an app. I choose the app where it then presents me the QR code and the secret underneath. Just for the sake of trying, I attempted to setup the email authentication just as a test, and that worked successfully, so 2FA is technically enabled now.....even if not via the method I'd like. I followed this up by trying to enable the 2FA via app again......alas, it still didn't work.

I am unable to offer further assistance as I don;t use my smart phone apps for two step authentication. If you wish to pursue this further, I suggest you contact the support/help desk for the specific smart phone app.
