Hey there folks. Been a while, but I thought I'd come back with some more info on the demorecord editing I talked about last time I was here.
While it doesn't solve the issue of getting nudity in regular play, with just a little bit of work it works wonders for demos and screenshots. The body textures work fine, and if you edit the demo file to just render the body, then you get it working just fine without any need to color match with the kobali pants or cover up a seam at the waist when using a skirt.
It even allows you to get combinations that are no longer possible with the modern version of the mod and game, like pantyless or fully exposed orion gear.
Or, something I don't think was ever done before, Transparent/sheer clothing (by editing the 4th value in the RGBA numbers to something smaller than 255. An alpha value of 255 is fully opaque, a smaller number adds a level of transparency)
It also allows different angles for taking screenshots than the in-game camera does, by using the freecam function in the demo player (accessed with f2)
And the ability to slow down the playback helps with catching moments with good poses, or taking sequences of screenshots.
I'll admit this is a little bit more legwork than just using the mod by itself, but for some people the results may be worth it.
Start a demo with the command "/demorecord [name you want it saved as]" in chat, then do whatever you want, and end it with "/Demorecordstop"
Then find the file in Star_trek_online/Live/Demos, create a backup if you want, then open the demo file with a raw text editor. I use one called Atom, as it has a dark mode and a search/replace function in it, but notepad works too.
Next you search in the text for the name of the outfit you're wearing. There should be a bunch of neatly organized blocks of text, one for each outfit part. To remove that part, just delete the block. But some outfits don't have a chest or legs rendered underneath the clothes, or like with skirts there's a seam.
To get around this issue, my suggestion is to get a swimwear outfit, save a quick demo of your character wearing it, then open that demo in the text editor. Swimsuits have chest and legs that line up very well, and are separate from the clothing part. Find the blocks of text for whatever bikini it is, and remove them to get a nude body. Copy the text that remains in that costume, and save it somewhere. Anytime you want your character nude in a demo, simply open the demo, find the right costume, and replace the text blocks in the outfit with the one from the nude outfit you made. Then you're done! A demo of your character in the nude.
It should be noted, this only works in demos, you cannot use this method to be nude in regular gameplay. As a result, it's safe and won't trigger anything that goes after people using a tailor hack.
Question, could we take the discovery klingon textures as a base and use them to make like a normal human version, I ask because the discovery klingons skin looks nice, the butt also looks quite nice. Would this be possible or do they use a different model?
Also I would like to ask how the N .wtex files work I am guessing they are lighting for the texture but I have no idea how should I edit them, like what colors to use and stuff.
About the disco texture, anything is possible, but not with my knowlage of edting.
About the N texture, you should google "normal textures". How they work, its magic to me.
disco klinks came out after the current files. you would have to go into the game find the file, which is probably compressed in one of the three texture.hogg files mod it then put it in the local data folder with the rest of the mod
I did it I got the hogg. files, made them into wtex and stuff but the Wtex2DDS doesnt work on them for some reason, it splits them into dds and hed but the dds file has 1kb so I am guessing they are too new for the program or something. I decided to make my own textures but I have no idea what transparency or opacity treshold or color the original files use when putting the colours into alpha channel.
Thanks, I thought that the noesis was only for viewing. Now I will attempt to make a better base texture than what we have, I will post it if successful.
I know that. What I meant was that with the mod as it is now, there's a seam at the waist I have to hide with a belt compared to before the changes Cryptic made. And now the only place to actually be 'full nude' is on Risa.
I do not wish to derail the conversation about the Nude Modplease don't get me wrong, if you know where I can look into this and ask questions about this let me know.
I have a question that has nothing to do with this mod, so to speak.
What do I need to get and learn to edit characters to have armors/tails they should not have?
Yesterday I was on Risa and saw a female ferasan using a full Female Orion set (not to mention those people who have aliens with catian ears and tails), I tried messing with the values of the .JPGs in the screenshot section using Notepad++ but the end result corrupts the .JPG and the game don't recognize it.
Anyone here is willing to at the very least point me to the right direction? Or at least point me someone who don't defend this knowledge like a cult member?
Any hint or idea may be helpfull :)
I'm well aware of those common and old replies about this, two examples are the "oh that was fixed"(there is always a way to edit software one way or another, I'm willing to find a way to do it), or that common reply about "I don't care about cat tails or glitched armors and neither should you" (making the post always devolve into something that has nothing to do with the original question in a effort to make people give up..while they use this knowledge for themselves).
I'm literally out of ideas where to ask this, because in-game people either ignore or give a lousy excuse to make me try to give up on this, in forums the conversations always devolve into attacks to one's tastes and on Discord people either truly don't know or they know and say stuff to make you go away disrespecfully.
