Just started using the Installer version of this instead of the manual installation version.
Amazing!!!
After season 8 a large waist seam appeared on nude or semi nude fed females. Using the installer version or perhaps the hi-res textures has closed the seam and removed the ugly necessity for awkward belts or sashes to conceal the gaping hole in the post season 8 models.
Also appreciate all the extra touches....all nude female crew, sexy dance animations etc.
Well done.

Glad you like it! The fix for the seam you noticed is the "Skirt Legs fix" mod. I really should add an extra notice that this mod is highly recommended, for as you noticed it fixes a rather noticeable issue in female body geometries.

Hey, first, I'm a great fan of this work, so many options :)

Now my problem: I tried to edit textures by myself, but it doesn't work, cannot open anything...I just read the issue with the .wtex to .dds...
Are there any news regarding that "new file format"? The Wtex2dds-converter isn't working anymore, I only gain 1kb-.dds which I cannot open.

I wanted to edit the Seven of Nine-Stuff, is there now any way to do that?

Ah yes, you've found out that Cryptic has indeed changed the .wtex format. The old wtex2dds method no longer works, instead you will need to follow the procedures laid out here: XeNTaX ? View topic - Neverwinter (Specifically this post: XeNTaX ? View topic - Neverwinter). Those details apply to both STO and Neverwinter.

You'll need to download the "noesis" software (found here: Señor Casaroja's Engineering Oasis) and use the script from the post in the above thread to convert from .wtex to .dds. Specifically, you'll need to find the [Noesis\plugins\python] directory and create a new text file, copy the code from the post linked above, and save the file as something like "fmt_Cryptic_wtex.py" in the [Noesis\plugins\python] folder. Then noesis should be able to work its magic and decode the textures.

I'll update the tutorial with this information at some point in the hopefully not-too-distant future.

Does that apply to .bin files too?

No, .bin files still decompile using the set of Gibbed mod tools, although the .json files have changed and the tutorial is also outdated in this respect as well. I'll definitely need to update the textures and bin sections of the tutorial, as things have changed; stay tuned.

Thanks, the export worked, that post was a good guide :)

But now logically the next problem, how do I get that edited DDS back to wtex?
The Noesis somehow hasn't that option in the export! (...and the Wtex2DDS isn't running that too...)

Well, you have a couple options. One, you can use the wtex2dds program on an old .wtex file from before the format change (all of the .wtex included in my mods qualify as this) and then replace the decoded .dds with your new .dds and then run wtex2dds back to .wtex as usual. Optimally you would choose a texture very similar to the one you've edited.

Alternatively, open one of the original .wtex files from before the format change in a hex editor and copy the first 36 bytes (everything from the beginning of the file to the characters "TX5"). Then, paste these copied bytes at the beginning of your edited .dds texture and change the file extension to .wtex. Again, it is best to use a texture that is very similar (especially in terms of dimension, 512x512, 256x256, etc.), as this header contains dimensional information (see offsets 0x9 and 0xd).

Uh oh. After today's patch I get

Fatal Error: No SeqData Collection found, has any animation data been loaded? Check DynSequnces.bin!

Then the game crashes just before it loads the character selection screens

I de-installed the mod though the control panel but the same crash and error occurs.

Sigh

Well, browse to your [..\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\Localdata] directory and delete the "bin" folder there, and if that doesn't solve the problem, tell the STO launcher to "force verify".

is there something for the klingon side? especially the lower half, since upper half can be changed with the winter wonderland's cropped outfit which can be found on the exchange.

I need a good raw start texture editing kit for this. I'm itchin to give it a try. any links to Free stuff that will run on Win 8? Re reading the old posts here and the last one about the new file type is over my head. so i just want to be able to open it up and start drawing. Doodling what not and build up a few new textures for folks here to work with.

Try the Dyson Uniform available from T3 Fleet Spires. It costs a few fleet credits and dilithium, and comes with both a skirt and tops that can be removed.

If your fleet doesn't have a Spire with a tailor, you can ask for an invite to one that does have one; the in-game channel "NoP Public Service" is dedicated to handing out invites, so feel free to ask there. :)
