Doesn't the Mod Manager already do exactly that?

I'm pretty sure it does all that, so I think Anon is in one of two situations:

Trying to explain something but can't quite put it in to words.
Hasn't tested all of the features.

But regardless, I'm working on IKs right now which allows for custom arm positioning.
Looks unpolished right now but it could end up looking good given more time.

Re: Mods

Superb work, ModGuy.
Also, an explicit (if somewhat late) 'Thank You' for adding the Invisi-Mod. :-*

... now if only I got this tentacle working properly. ::)
.. stupid, stupid tentacle.

Bare with me, I haven't used the Mod loader since it could only load eyes. I'm pretty sure it didn't do that the first time I was messing with the mod manager.

I'm actually trying to learn everything about the mod loader before I start making a Guide for it.

BTW, I don't want to make a guide if the mod loader is going to change dramatically at any point, because I have no intent of maintaining the thread. The thread will likely be made for v3.6 unless you release a new one before I do it.

Re: Mods

The mod manager isn't part of the loader. It's a little application that manages the Mods folder.

Re: Mods

Well since you know so much about the Mod Loader why aren't you making the guide for it, huh? BTW, I knew that the mod manager managed the mods folder, I just didn't know that it did what I wanted it to do, because I haven't really messed with it, like ModGuy said, he knows how lazy I am.

You can't load mod imports manually inside the loader can you? Similar to how official swf imports are loaded. The current way is very inconvenient for mixing and matching imports.

If you make it I could maintain it.
I just can't review it myself as I will take too many things for granted.

On a side note though. I'm going to write a guide thread that will be linked to from the archive because I'm reorganizing the archive for v5.0 now that v1.8b is out. It will be set up so that the Mod loader is already extracted and kind of set up with all of the available loader mods.

EDIT: Can you modify the mod manager to allow for backgrounds other than in .PNG format? (i.e. jpg, bmp, and other image formats I'm not thinking of right now) I imagine swf backgrounds would be applied with custom mods or dynamic mods, I don't know, I haven't gotten that far yet, if not can you add that as well?

EDIT 2: I noticed what I believe to be a bug. A) it says Music, but it toggles the mirror mode B) when you toggle mirror mode, every time you open the game afterward it starts off mirrored no matter what.

EDIT 3: I might be mistaken, but the mod manager doesn't seem to support Multiple Mods, whereas the loader does. It would be nice if you could work that in. Otherwise I have to make the guide a little more complicated.

EDIT 4: So I have multiple mods set up and custom mods set up with the mod manager. When I first load the character it will load the multiple mods and not the custom mod, but if I reload the character it will load the custom mod and none of the multiple mods with no way of returning to the first unless I start the program over again.

EDIT 5: Currently I have finished typing out a step by step guide to the Mod Manager. Tomorrow I will likely look into the other aspects of the mod loader.

EDIT 6: There are a few things I'm going to need for you to explain to me if I'm going to make a complete guide for the mod loader. So either you need to get on the IRC at some point, PM me, or I can create a board for us to talk privately *wink*.

Re: Mods

Hey Modguy, I didn't see any mention of this in the thread, which admittedly may just be poor reading comprehension on my part, but would it be possible to load custom speech files automatically?

Re: Mods

I got tired of you avoiding my questions and just released the guide as is... I'll complete it later.

I need to know about...
Auto.exe
Modder.swf
Mods Folder.exe
Settings.txt

and the reset button just unloads swf files right?

and are you going to fix Multiple Mods and background loading

:D

Auto.exe - Automatic mouse control around a sine wave with (2) customizable options.
Modder.swf - Used by modders to create custom mods and hotkeys.
Mods Folder.exe - Automatically generates "Mods.txt" list using folder names.
Settings.txt - Contains tweakable settings.

and the reset button just unloads swf files right? - Should do, yes.

and are you going to fix Multiple Mods and background loading
These are both Mod Manager issues, yes?
The manager was experimental and I never expected anyone to use it, so I have to update it.

EDIT: Ticked Don't use Smileys.

Re: Mods

Yes, I actually like the Mod Manager idea, it works very well, minus the few flaws.

So I shouldn't bother trying to explain the Modder.swf?

And should I bother explaining the Mods_Folder.exe?

Could you further elaborate on the Auto.exe, I haven't gotten it to work yet, so I don't understand it. Also, I don't care for the hide button where the Auto.exe never closes and I have to go to task manager to close it.

Also... where's my + karma modwanker?

Also, you can include a text file in your thing that has the url for the thread with the guide if you want.

Re: Mods

Modguy's release includes a basic guide for the modding tool, so as long as that gets included in the archive then anyone who still can't figure it out really has no business using it.

Re: Mods

Just a mention of what it does should be enough.

And should I bother explaining the Mods_Folder.exe?
The following suffices:
A tool to automatically generate the Mods.txt file.

Could you further elaborate on the Auto.exe, I haven't gotten it to work yet, so I don't understand it.
Change some settings, hit caps lock.

Also, I don't care for the hide button where the Auto.exe never closes and I have to go to task manager to close it.
In the Task Bar / Notification Area @ bottom right of desktop.

Might I ask where this so called "basic guide" is to use the modding tool?
I seem to no longer have the guide for some reason.
Can anyone upload it please?

Re: Mods

I actually had no clue that caps lock controlled that... in which case, shouldn't you disable caps lock from being able to be a shortcut?

Mods_Folder.exe is something to run if you aren't using the Mod Manager.exe correct?

I am actually interested in how the modder.swf works.

Re: Mods

Thank you, without that I wouldn't have had a clue what to do. I am not however going to make much of a comment on that in the guide.

Do you think I should bother trying to explain how to set up the Mod loader manually?

Assuming something goes wrong with the mod manager I think it's best that users know how to do things manually.

Re: Mods

Well... in my opinion, the mod manager is infallible. ;)

That and I don't feel like writing another guide. I think your guide is plenty explanatory.
