I don't like the new outfits at all. The previous bolero ones were great and showing the face is more desirable to help see their reactions to hits and all...without that it is seriously missing something.
New outfit vs. old outfit...
That's not an easy choice... specially because apart from the slightly more redd-ish tone of the accessories and the boots now black instead of red... they are exactly the same! VS.
As for the use of masks, I might agree... but that is a necessary evil: how can one "simulate" dozens of fighting zako with only a handful of actresses? If it's visually obvious that it's always the same few girls attacking, the "suspension of disbelief" becomes unsustainable!

I think he was referring to the other GIGA movie that's coming out soon, with the girls who are in the purple outfit, fully masked and covered head to toe. There are guy "zakos" mixed in with the girl zakos in that one. Obviously, there isn't much difference between the old Bolero outfit with yellow hat and belt, and the new one with red hat and belt.
If so (only AgentAika can tell for sure) I take back my 1st sarcastic remark... and apologize! :-)
My other consideration regarding the virtual impossibility to show the Zako's faces and still maintain the illusion of a constant stream of expendable minions rushing to their demise... still stands! ;-)
By the way, for the few who don't know... the concept of "suspension of disbelief" is a brilliant coinage of S.T. Coleridge, no less! ;-)
Personally, I'd be delighted to always see the faces and expressions of the Zako, but it could only be believable in anime and by the expedient of them being clones or similar, like in the all-time masterpiece for Female Enemy Zako... which I reckon needs no introduction:
Captain Harlock's "Mazones" (in France the hero is called "Albator" and the evil babes "Sylvidres") were my first zako girls !!! The best are the twin sisters. They are so sexy, so feminine, so adorable !!!!
Take a look : Captain Harlock vs sexy evil female twins - YouTube
Thank you Scosinus for sharing your good vid's !
(Agree with you, Albator 78 and the evilish "mazons" is certainly at the origin for my taste for "henchbabes" !)
WOW this "present" is awesome !!! Fabulous evil damsels in distress !!! And I will immediately take a look at the thread dedicated to the beautiful Harlock's Mazones !!

Simply not wearing masks resolves this problem. :) Seeing faces and expressions also makes it appear like each one is an individual despite being part of a large number of same dressed zako.

I find it works with either real actresses or anime ones...just seems much hotter seeing a reaction or even when laying about defeated...don't really feel that at all with a mask covering their whole face.
Since I have been extensively quoted in latest AgentAika post, I believe a reply is in order!
Firstly... I already apologized for my sarcasm. Similarly, I think his "Some people like to shoot first and ask questions later" sarcastic reply is not too fair, specially because (as he said himself) his post didn't connect properly and is placed several other post after the one he was actually referring too.
Plus... referring to "previous Bolero outfits" was not helpful to understand that he was referring to the pinky Zentai instead of the 1st actual Bolero video!
That said... once again I confirm that also in my opinion masks (complete or only partial like in the Bolero movies) covering the faces of the actresses deprive us of the additional pleasure of seeing the facial expressions of killed/knocked-out Zako.
Everyone who has watched the Bolero video must agree that it is far too apparent that it's always the same group of 6 girls repeatedly attacking, being killed... and attacking again.
Some are so very recognizable for many big and small details (porn-star Ai Wakana's peculiar teeth for instance) that this seriously undermines the realism and believability of the movie!
Unless the plot involves them being clones of various classes... like Battlestar Galactica's Cylons, for instance.
If that is the case, I wouldn't know: I don't understand Japanese.
For budget reasons, there cannot be dozens of actresses to use, then I think that the Bolero upper-face covering mask is a good (though not impeccable) solution.
Dead/knocked-out Zako can be difgitally multiplied in aftermath shots and pans, but the only way to impeccably and believably simulate large numbers of Zako in action is using Zentai outfits... unfortunately!
The Mazones are sort of clones... and the technology of the 70's (hand-drawn single picture frames) made it virtually impossible to make them randomly different from one-another. Despite them being all identical, using unique facial expressions for each one when hit, incredibly added to the pathos of the scenes, like this one... which I am sure AgentAika will like!
From what I can see from the sample video in streaming... this is quite promising!
Zako are in large numbers, either digitally multiplied and in terms of actual cast!
There seems to be "executions": knocked down (on a hand-rail) girls are given no mercy but finished off... with the silly cheerleader baton!
There are at least 3 major battles: in some sort of amphitheatre, in a paved square, and in a lab room.
In the first 2 instances, the Zako attack unarmed, whereas the heroes take them out without hesitation by advanced weapons... Some "heroes", uh?
In perfect zako-style, the dumb strategy of the girls is to attack in tight formations, thus making the use of area-effect weapons more devastating.
Girls are sacrificed to the giant snake presumably just to feed it: the remains are then spat out! Yuk!
During the 3rd battle (indoors) the zako don't wear mask and bandana (AgentAika surely appreciates!) carry a sword and have shocker-style painted faces. The outcome is the usual: they drop like flies before the super-powers of the heroes. Nice aftermath shot: I wish I'd understand what the off-screen voice says!!!
Unfortunately for Amazon Shark... mass-killings seem to be the rule more than the exception. Just teasing you a bit: no offence, uh... Amazon Shark! ;-)
They're both owned by the same company, the only difference is that GIGA deals in the X-rated stuff, Zen Pictures keeps sexuality (for the most part) out of their films.
That's a big negative point. While a good evil babe should be a "normal girl" (no clone, zealot, maniac) for me, she has to join the evil side voluntarily and pay the price for her decision. Otherwise it's just "a monster slaughters innocent girls".
Hey guys, so I purchased Bandobure, but it keeps saying the license issuing process has failed. I updated Windows Media Player and temporarily turned off antivirus protection, but none of that seems to be helping. Anyone know what else I can do? The Q&A on the site is pretty unclear.
I had a similar issue when I downloaded the sample video: I was using Firefox and trying to open the file with GOM player! Wroooooong!
They state clearly that you need to download the file using I.Explorer 8 (or superior) and then open the file with WMP 11 or superior.
I did that and the sample played correctly! The DRM cancellation procedure hadn't worked, instead!
Don't forget to let us know if the movie is bad/good/excellent after you've seen it! ;-)
P.S.: there's nothing wrong in the "a monster slaughters innocent girls" situation. Quite the opposite, IN MY OPINION! If the Zako are evil, they just deserve their fate. If they are instead conscripts (not brainwashed!!!) the concept of expendable minions whose lives have no value in their officers' schemes is further reinforced!

That's why I always try to envision the zako's personal background. Their lives have no value for the evil bosses, and the heroes have no reason to care for them anyway (though some may do). Yes, they are voluntarily evil and they deserve their fate!
But unbeknownst to those who slaughter or sacrifice the zakos, each and every one of them may be the most important person in the world for somebody, somewhere.
